Default Handling report templates

Hi community, this is my first post here and it will not be the last one. Thanks in advance for your support.

I am using MS Project Pro 2013. I created an individual report. I also copied it with the global template organizer to the MPT.global project.
When I delete the report within my current project, I can still create and open this report.

I assumed that the report is not available, because I deleted it for the current project. And I also assumed that it will be available again, when I copy it from the MPT.global project back to my current project.
That does not seem to be the case, why?

What am I missing?

Thank you!

When you copy a report template to the Global.mpt file, this makes that report template available in every current and future project you manage. There is rarely a need to copy any element, such as views or tables, FROM the Global.mpt into a project. So, even though you deleted the report from the project, its template is still available to that project since it is in the Global.mpt file.

Understood. Thank you.

How do you handle version management of reports? I use reports and I improve them from time to time. How can I manage different versions or do you always overwrite them?

Thank you.

Well, you can use the Organizer to overwrite the old report template with the new updated report template. I have been done this road myself. Eventually you will arrive at the final version of the report template and then you can move on to other more important matters! HA! Hope this helps.

Thank you, understood. So I am going to overwrite it in the Organizer.

Cheers!
