How to Link Bar-Style to Task-type
In Project, tasks in the graphics area are formatted according to the defined bar style.
It is possible to manually adjust the color of the bar. Question: Is there a way to define a separate task that directly gives its own color in the graphic area? For example: I create a special Task: Waiting, is it possible to show the bar style directly in the color I have predefined in Beam Style Formatting? |

Double-click the Gantt bar and then change the color in the Format Bar dialog.

@ Dale Howard
Thanks for an answer, but the question is whether there is a standard way to get a different color of the bar for a certain task. Your proposal is to adjust the task afterwards, the question was to be able to define this in advance. So I see the answer as placing buckets near a leaky faucet, instead of fixing the faucet. |

OK, I understand. Take a look at the "Create a new type of Gantt bar" section of the following Help article:
Format the bar chart of a Gantt Chart view - Microsoft Support Create a custom task Flag field and give it a name of your choice. Insert this Flag field in any Task view and set a Yes value for tasks where you want a different Gantt bar color automatically. Then refer to the steps in the Help article to make this work. For example, I just automatically formatted a Gantt bar color using the dark Orange color when I entered a Yes value in the Flag1 field for a task, so I know this approach will work for you. Hope this helps. |
