Default Custom formula for % completed

Hello,

i noticed that Microsoft Project is not reflecting the accurate percentages of work completions in the following case: (for ex it is showing let's say 40 % progress where the real is should be 30%)

- if a task has duration of 4 days and the task has delayed to 14 days due to delay from customer or for any reason: in this case % completed is still same but after let's say 4 + 14 +5 days it get completed: the total duration now is high and having impact on overall percentage of project due to increase on number of days.

the question is:
how to accommodate this? can we add a custom formula dealing with custom fields?

Kindly advise
Regards,
Fouad

How about splitting the task for the period of the delay? So that the delay isn't added to the actual duration which Microsoft Project uses to calculate % complete.

As above, splitting the task is probably the most acceptable way. If its a client side issue, I Would expect a claim to be made and this would show the problem and effect on overall duration or following tasks.
Project will never give the actual progress, only expected, unless you give it a % complete manually. It doesnt know what is actually happening- thats the planners job!
