Default Project does not change finish date when I duplicate resources

Hi friends, I am using Microsoft Project 2010 and I have one activity with a duration of 8 days.

I come to happen that I setup the task type to fixed work and then I duplicate the unit of resources assigned to that task, and then Project reduces the task duration to 4 days which is perfect, but the problem is that Project does not change the finish date of the task that is what I was looking for.

What can I do to let Project change the finish date of the task when I duplicate the resource units of the task?

I've replicated your question in MSP 2010 and the finish date changes with duplicate resources.

Maybe check that you've got "auto-scheduled" task mode for the task and not "manually scheduled".

Default Thanks Jerome

Hi Jerome, I hope you are fine.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write me your reply to my question.

I verified and the task is in auto schedule mode, so I believe it is a Project 2010 bug related to Task type since fixed work task type is not behaving as expected.

Once again, thank you so much for your time and effort to help.

Best regards,

Alberto Villanueva.

do you have any constraints on the task? - if you have a finish constraint on the task it will behave as you describe.
