Hello everybody,
I´m currently planing a bigger project. I already have defined various tasks with subtasks and already assigned resources and materials to every subtask. My problem is the following: My resources are divided into different Resource Groups (in reality these are different Companys which I´m going to contract and pay). For the payment I would like to know per task the sum of the cost for each resource group/company e.g. two resources of the same company are working on one task so I would like to see automatically how much money I have to pay to the company per task. Currently I just managed to see the total cost per task or the cost per resource in each task. Would be great if anybody could help me. Best regards Emanol |

You should be able to get close by grouping on the Task Usage view. Here are some step by steps
1. Apply the Task Usage view 2. Add the Cost field to the view 3. Insert the Text 1 field and add the formula: [Outline Number] & " " & [Name] 4. Create a custom group with the following definition: Group by:You'll need to turn on the option "Group assignments not tasks" to be able to set the field type to assignments. Apply the group. |

Hello Julie,
thank you very much for your answer. I already created the filter as you said, but what I don´t understand is what you mean with step 3: "3. Insert the Text 1 field and add the formula: [Outline Number] & " " & [Name]" Cheers Emanol |

Filters won't work, you'll need to create the group. What I mean in step 3 is:
Insert the Text1 field into the view. Go to the Add A column start to type Text1 to insert the field. Then right click on the field and choose "Custom Fields". Enter the formula into the field. |

Great(-:
It worked thanks a lot Julie. The only problem I have now is that Project just groups the subtasks. That is already a great help, but I would have to sum all the subtask of one summary-task to get the information for the total of one summary task. Is there a way to get the information for the summary-tasks in the same way your group explanation shows me for the subtasks? Cheers and thank you very very much Emanol |

Hello Julie,
I also tried the solucion from the following forum: https://social.technet.microsoft.com...nal2010general I think you also left some comments their. I tried the solucion with the macro, and yes it shows me what I want to see, but I´ve got the same problem as with the "group by" solucion: It just shows the information for the sub-tasks and not for the summary tasks. If you have any further advice, I would be very greatfull. Best regards Immanuel |

Is the value in Text1 applied to tasks or summary tasks?
You could add to group by Project in the group definition - but something tells me that you are really inserting projects. Where is the "project" defined? |
