Default Setting Drop Dead Start Dates

I have 6 sub-tasks with different deadlines. The project is set to 'schedule from finish date' and each task is set to 'as late as possible'.

I'm trying to set each task to finish on its deadline and show me the must-start date. Currently it has all the tasks as starting the same day and a bunch of slack. I've tried changing the completion date of the last task in the group to the deadline, but that just makes the last task duration super long.

I'm not applying any resources to the schedule currently, could that be my problem?

I'm not seeing 'Finish no earlier than' as a scheduling option, which I think would solve my problem. Any ideas?

Try this: create milestones after each of these tasks and put deadlines on the milestones, then link tasks to them as appropriate.

If you have any constraints set as the result of entering start dates or end dates, remove them. You should have only As Late As Possible constraints.

Then flip the project to being planned from a Start Date and I think you will have your dates.

BE SURE to save copies of your file along the way, in case I don't know what I am talking about. and I might not; I don't think I have ever needed to do what you need to do.

That did it. I'm not sure if it was adding the milestones or just trying everything again because I think some of the subtasks weren't getting changed to ALAP and that was messing everything up.
