Default Setting Drop Dead Start Dates

I have 6 sub-tasks with different deadlines. The project is set to 'schedule from finish date' and each task is set to 'as late as possible'.

I'm trying to set each task to finish on its deadline and show me the must-start date. Currently it has all the tasks as starting the same day and a bunch of slack. I've tried changing the completion date of the last task in the group to the deadline, but that just makes the last task duration super long.

I'm not applying any resources to the schedule currently, could that be my problem?
I'm not seeing 'Finish no earlier than' as a scheduling option, which I think would solve my problem. Any ideas?
