Default Using MSP to predict staff resource

Hi

I often use MSP to drive effort driven planning against resource available. However, can i use MSP to predict and plan peaks and troughs in resource given a firm resourced plan? ie. I have a work break down and a date to deliver. Against that i want to put in generic resources at specific staff grades or functions. Ie. i may predict that a fixed task will take two and a half project officers. Then i want to be able to crank the handle and determine how many project officers i may need at any one time to deliver that plan, Is this possible?

The only way i can think of doing it is have one project officer as a resource and assign him across the plan. Then assess how many 100 precentages he is over comitted.

Thanks
Neil
