Default Determined Total Downstream Impact

Is there a way to determine the total downstream impact for a particular task? For example, A->B->C and B->D->E, I want the total downstream impact of A to be 4.

Impact is, as far as I know, a product of tasks in the same way that lag is- you dont determine it, it is a result of the programme as a whole. The only way to change anything would be to alter start/finish days or work, which defies the point of a programme.
If its a "what if " programme, I suspect that ti is a case of playing with items to get the result you want.

Yes I realize that it's a byproduct of the sequence.... I guess I wasn't clear. I meant how can I count how many total downstream jobs are impacted by a particular task? In CCPM Aurora project management software, it's a simple right click > show downstream work, and you can see a Gantt chart for the work somehow relating to the work you clicked on. You could also get a list of the total downstream jobs and a total count.
