Default Assigning resources not shortening task period

I have a project that has a duration of 2480 hrs with a start date set. Even though I have four resources at 100% the finish date is approximately 14 months out. It seems Project is only accounting for one person not four. How do I get it to see all four resources working the hours so that the finish date pulls in earlier.

In order for the addition of resources to shorten the task duration, the task needs to be effort driven. Show the task form in the lower pane. It will allow you to easily view status information (Task Type, Effort driven or not) as well as view the work assigned to each resource.
