Default Fixed Duration Task - Resource Issue

I have a 274 working day fixed duration task that currently has 5 personnel assigned to it. The personnel work various times (and days) on the task. No one is assigned 100%.

The task started on 08/31/16 and finishes on 09/29/17.

I have a 6th person who will need to work 2 hrs per week over the next 12 weeks. When I add the 2 hours to resource usage for the week I receive the message "Resource assigned outside the original dates for task ..." and it extends the finish date. Any thoughts why this would occur?

Thanks.

That message is usually an indication that there is non-working time in the resource's calendar.

Thanks Julie for the reply.

The resources calendar shows availability during this time. Also when I add this resource to another fixed duration task during the same timeframe there is no error on the task.

Okay - let's try a bit more information. You mention that the resource is assigned to another task that overlaps. Are you creating a resource overallocation? Is your leveling set to automatic? What is the peak unit for the resource's during the overlap? What is the resource's max units?

Can you attach a picture or perhaps the file?
