Smile Microsoft Project Server, Microsoft Project Online and Project Web App - Whats the difference?

Hello! I sure hope someone can help clear something up for me. I have been reading online, and I understand MSPS is different than MS Project Online (I am still learning how they are different). I hear people call MS Project Online, "PWA" (project web app) from time to time.

My questions are;

1. is Microsoft Project Online the same thing as Project Web App (PWA)?

2. What is the major difference between MSPS and Microsoft project online? Another words, if I was using MSPS and had the option to "upgrade" to MS Project Online, what would be the advantage to upgrading?

Thanks so much for helping me out!

Project Server is usually an on premise installation with the hardware, software, and local talent available for the care and feeding of the server. Project Online is a hosted Project Server environment. When people interact with the Project Server - whether it be an on premise or hosted, they use PWA. Project managers still need Project Professional to create the project files, but resources when properly licensed, can use PWA to fill out their timesheets, see their assignments etc.
