Project Calendar - working days have varying hours
Hi,
I'm about to work with a new client whose working time each day varies - its fair to say their working hours are non-standard as below. Monday is 8am to 5pm Tues to Thurs is 7am to 5pm Friday is 7am to 3pm Before I start to work them I've been thinking about how I could accurate capture duration data on projects plans that we will be developing going forward. Its a given that I need to align the settings in the 'Calendar options for this project' with the project calendar, otherwise durations and work estimates could be wrong or inaccurate. So, given this non-standard shift pattern, how best should I reflect the working hours in the calendar options to ensure symmetry between the two. Thanks in advance for your help. |

You are correct that you only get to define a "day" and a "week" once. i would still likely work with a day = 8hrs and a week = 40hrs as the hours do add to 40. As long as you have set the working calendar (Change working time) correctly, it should still schedule fine. If you enter a two day duration task that starts Tuesday morning at 7:00 am, it will finish 16 working hours later.
