Default error message after perform MS Project wizard

I've imported excel spreadsheets into MS Projects before using the Wizard.
Now I'm getting an error message after the import functions that says
"Cannot open the XYZ.xls file"

I've double checked the column headers. No spaces or special characters.
I've checked the Trust Center, and clicked on the radio button to allow Legacy downloads.

But, still I can't import an Excel file into MS Projects.

I've attempted to save the excel file as a .xml file, but Excel says my file does not have data mapping.

I am at a loss.
Jim

What data are you attempting to import? Task? Resource? Give us more about the details of the Excel file and we'll try to help.
