Default Expected task end date is not reflecting . Need help

need assistance, how to get the desired result?

Scenario:

A task say "Paint the wall" requires total 24 hours to complete.

For a day, we expect daily working hours for each person is 8 hours.

The project need to start by Wednesday. (i.e., 7 jan 2015 in this video)

3 Persons were assigned to complete this task effectively.

We expected 8 hours from each, hence expected the work to be completed on same day !

But, we have below constraints:

1st Person "A" can work only for 4 hours daily.

2nd Person "B" can also work only for 4 hours daily.

3rd Person "C" can work only for 2 hours daily and also not available to work on Thursday and Friday.

Saturday and Sunday is generally holiday and no work is expected.

With the above constraints, this 24 hours work can be completed by

On Wednesday,

Person "A" and "B" will work for 4 hours each. Person "C" will work for 2 hours.

Hence, 4+4+2 = 10 hours work should be completed.

On Thursday,

Person "A" and "B" will work for 4 hours each. Person "C" will not work.

Hence, 4+4 = 8 hours work should be completed. (Total: 18hours work completed so far. Remaining work expected is 6 hours only)

On friday,

Person "A" and "B" will work for 3 hours each. Person "C" will not work.

Hence, 3+3 = 6 hours work should be completed. (Total: 24hours work completed by Friday. This is the expected output)

But while trying the above scenario, Ms Project calculates differently and splits the work incorrectly to resources and shows that work will be completed by next Tuesday only ! (i.e., 13 Jan 2015 in this video).

Need assistance how to fix this ? or how to achieve desired result in ms project?

The steps tried is showing in video, which incorrectly calculates and shows the work will be completed by 13 Jan 2015 (Tuesday only).

Please suggest how to achieve desired result.

I have no idea what "desired" result you are looking for. I have watched the first 3 minutes of the video and by following the steps get the exact same answer the demonstration did.

Depending upon how you assign the resources, the 24 hours of work may be split evenly (8 hours each). In the video R1 and R2 are scheduled for 9.6 hours and R3 is scheduled for 4.8 hours.

If you want it to finish more quickly - change the work for R1 and R2 to 11 hours and change the work for R3 to 2 hours. It now finishes Friday at 3:00 pm.

The calculation by project is not incorrect - it is based upon 24 hours of work split among a total of 125% units. R1 is 40% of the total of 125% and 40% of 24 is 9,6. The same is true with R2 - hence the assignment of 9.6 hours of work. Project does not pay attention to the idea that R3 only works on Wednesday (in this scenario) - so it still assigns 20% of the 24 hours of work - or 4.8 hours.
