Default Need help understanding critical path and feedback on programme.

Hi.

I've made a programme for a one of our projects and have changed the traditional way that the programme is made.

We build roads and tend to use links to control the order in which the roads are built, however that never works well. I've changed that by not linking individual roads and used priorities and resources to control the order in which each road is built. I think that makes much more sense, however the consequence seems to be that the critical path is now decided by a single road (that last one), and if I set MS Project to calculate multiple critical then almost everything becomes critical.

I would like opinions on whether or not the way I've done the programme is "correct" but also comments on the critical path issue.

I had to zip the programme (MS Project 2010) to upload it.

I think the multiple critical paths makes the most sense. I'm guessing each road is a project unto itself and within the road, the work to complete that road is related. The only relationship between the road is resources. You've resolved the overallocations by leveling. Project does not take resources into account when displaying the critical path - only the task schedules.

Thanks. I think your idea to consider each road as seperate project is good.
