Start & Finish Date/Time
How do you change a template so the date/time are the same for start and finish when no tasks are entered... If I start a new project and check the "Show project summary task" the start and finish date/times are the same and finish time changes as tasks are added... MY (inherited) template shows...(example) start date/time as 4/12/16 8:00am and finish date/time 4/13/16 8:30am and no tasks are entered.. How can I correct this so the finish date/time grows as tasks are added...

My guess is the Project start time was not updated when the calendar was changed to start at 8:30. What is the start time in the calendar? (Change working time). What is the default start time (File > Options, Schedule).

Wow another issue.. Gantt Chart start time shows 8:00am..
File> Option: Schedule indicate 6:00am start time.. Change Work Time: default is 6:00am I would start a new template, the date and times all align as they should, but the resource list is really big and I'm not sure how to move all of that info or reenter it. |

The setting are for the project - not each resources. But the calendar and calendar options must match. If the resources are all set to work against the base calendar = project calendar - you should be all set.

I matched all the dates and times and deleted all the tasks... it worked.
But the "Project information" Title, that shows up at the top of the Gantt chart still shows the "finish" date/time as 24.5 hours till finished.. But once I enter a start task and time, the Project info title reflects the latest "finish" time... It works as it should and looks correct, but the set up is not correct, and that kinda bothers me.. |

What is the duration of the Project Summary task - line 0. Without any tasks the duration should be zero and start date/time = finish date/time

I found the issue about about the dates and start time.. (in my case, anyway)
There were "cleared" tasks NOT "deleted".. and once I deleted the tasks, and entered new tasks and duration the dates and time fell into place... |

Not sure what 'cleared' tasks means - but they must be deleted for the summary duration to = 0.

I "cleared contents" in the cells and still had issues with start/finish time when I had "show project summary task" in the Zero line...
I highlighted the cells again and used "clear contents".... Summary dates still the same....Then used "delete tasks".. and the Summary was showing correct start/finish... I have started a new project template and it is working.. Just need to get the resources entered |
