Default Spreading a project over two shifts

Hi there, I'm pretty new to MSProject and want to use it to implement a project plan for an activity which is happening over the next few weeks.

The activity is split into multiple tasks (let's say tasks 1-20)
The work is split between two shifts.

The issue I have is that shift 1 might be working on task 5, lasting 5 days (5x early shifts), and shift 2 might be working on task 10, also lasting 5 days (5x late shifts).

Shifts are 06:30>14:30>22:30.

Should I set up shift 1 & shift 2 as individual resources such that they can work on tasks "at the same time" (and let microsoft project assume that they are both working the same hours)?

many thanks
Guy

Assuming you have shifts of resources, yes. Create resources in the resource sheet and then create a day shift and night shift calendar. Assign the calendars to the resource(s). You can also create a 'team' by increasing the max units. For example, if you have 5 people on the day shift, set the max units to 500%. You can then assign the 500% (5 people) to the task and see the correct work calculated.
