Unhappy EVM on summary tasks

Hello,

I have some problem with the calculation of Earned value on summary tasks.
When I fill the %work done in a normal task : no problem EV is calculated, no problem.
But I have some resources that I have affected to a summary task.
In this case, I have the correct %work done calculated for my summary task based on sub tasks.
Bu EV for the summary task is calculated as SUM of EV from sub tasks and not as %work x Planned Value.
I thus get a Cost Variation between real cost and earned value.
Here is a screen shot of a small example :
(Sorry my MS Project version is in french so :
VA = EV
VC = CV
VP = PV

%travail = % work)

You should not assign resources to a summary task. The summary task's purpose is to summarize information from the subtasks. Take the resources off the summary tasks - save the baseline again.

I was using summary tasks to log some travel costs.
While my "normal" tasks are used for my human resources work during weekday, my summary task allow me to log travel cost that are also calculated during week-ends.
This would mean i would have to create hammock tasks to log these travel costs but it is a hassle to assign resources to hammock tasks as for some reasons it sometimes ignore the link indicated in begin and end to calculate lenght of the task bases upon resource usage (even if I put these tasks as "capacity" type)

As a suggestion, use Cost type resources for the travel costs. Their value is not counted in BCWP, BCWS, or ACWP. The values do count in BAC and EAC.
