Default Work vs. Duration

I have a what I hope will be a simple issue to resolve.

Example:

Task 1 has a duration of 1wk. Resource #1 completed task 100% in 24h. This leaves 16h worth of slack between Task 1 and Task 2, which is 1fs.

The tasks are auto scheduled, but I don't understand how to get task 2 to absorb the 24hrs of slack from task 1 finishing early, while keeping the original duration and start/finish dates as 1wk. So I can see variances postmortem

This seems easy, but is stumping me for some reason.

Please help.
Cameron
