What happens when I delete the Global template?
In trying to create some custom views for printing etc., it seems I've made some changes to the Global copy of the default Gantt Chart view. Based on my understanding, if I delete the Global.mpt template file, a new one will generate when I restart Project and any changes I've made to default views and any new views I've created in the Global template will be wiped away.
What about copies of views in specific files? I have one file with all the views I need; in the organizer, it shows them in both the Global.MPT file, as well as the specific file I'm working on. If I delete the Global template, will I lose custom views in specific files? jjmclell |

Figured it out...copied the Global.MPT file to have a back-up and deleted the one in AppData. Global was restored to defaults and I retained all of my custom views in my local file; just recopied them to the Global template.

There are two Global.mpt files. You are correct if you delete (or rename) the copy found in C:\Users\Your User Name\App Data\Roaming and then restart Project, it will create a new Global.mpt file.
As you found, custom objects (views, tables, filters, etc.) are still retained in the local file. |
