I must be missing something obvious - when I go to put a footer into a print-out of a Gantt chart, it shows up on the left, even when I put the footer text in the 'Center' placeholder. See pic...

Does this happen with all files or just one? All views of the file? Do you have any sort of compression (fit to X by X pages) enabled?

It seems to happen for new views. The default Gantt chart view centers the footer no problem, but when I try to print a custom Gantt chart view (as I did above), it doesn't seem to want to center the footer. The custom view was just a single view, Gantt chart, no grouping, all tasks, with a table of data with 0 column widths (which shouldn't be an issue since 0 column width has no impact on the footers of the default Gantt view). I created another Gantt view, same problem...

You lost me on the zero column widths. Why set zero column widths?

So I can print a Gantt chart without the underlying table showing.

It doesn't seem to matter though. I created a new project, created a new Gantt view with single view, default Entry table, no groups, all tasks...same thing.

No ID field? If I create a new table, remove all fields except the ID field and unlock that field - it still work with the centering.

Have you considered using the Timeline view?

Not a huge fan of timeline view in Project 2010...not enough flexibility for formatting. The reason I created another Gantt chart view is so I can have one view with bar styles, font etc. preferrable for pictures in powerpoint presentations, and one view with different styles preferrable for print-outs.

Have you been able to replicate the issue, by creating another Gantt chart view in a new project? ...just using the basic settings: single view, Gantt chart, Entry table, no groups, all tasks?

I created a new table and removed all fields except the ID column. I then shrunk the ID column to zero. I then dragged the Gantt chart image as far left as I could. Below is what I see:

Yes, but my problem isn't with the table that's being used. It's with the view. Create a new Gantt chart view and see what happens.

The table is part of the view. Do not use the default Entry table. Create a new table, apply it to the existing Gantt chart view. The table is the columnar data you are trying to set to zero.

Yes, but I actually want 2 different Gantt chart views of 1 table for the reasons below... I don't want to have to reformat the Gantt chart everytime I need to output one for a different purpose.

Ignore the fact that I have column widths set to 0. The inability to center the footer in a new view doesn't seem to matter whether I have column widths set to 0 or not.

I think we are talking past one another here. You can create the new table and apply it to a new Gantt chart view. Obviously with the table columns set to zero width - the custom view won't be useful for much other than printing.

Ok, let's start over...I'm a little confused...and let's just ignore the fact I'm trying to print a Gantt chart without any tabular data showing on the left.

Let's say I have one table (the default Entry table) that I've populated with all of the data I have for the tasks in my project. Now, I want to view that data two different ways - I want a Gantt chart where all the bars are blue, and I want a Gantt chart where all the bars are red, and I don't want to reformat the default Gantt chart bar styles everytime I need to output a Gantt chart with blue or red bars.

To save myself time, I create a new view of the Entry table called Gantt Chart 2. In that new view I set all the bar styles to red. Now, simply by changing views of the Entry table data (just like switching from Gantt Chart to Calendar to Task Sheet to whatever), I can see a Gantt chart with blue bars, or I can see a Gantt chart with red bars, and I can print either of those Gantt charts depending on what my manager's favourite colour of the day is.

Except when I go to print the Gantt Chart 2 view I created, I can't center the footer at the bottom of the page.

Are we envisioning the same problem?
