calculating resource costs
Is there anyway in which the following is possible in MS Project 2013 without creating two resource profiles for one project resource?
Jon Doe works on a project Monday through to Friday. For the first three days on the week, Jon has a cost of £123.00 per hour (8 hours per day). For the 4th and 5th working day of the week, Jon has a zero cost (non-billable). I have tried to input multiple rates but cannot them to accumulate as I would like to do (see above). The other consideration is that if Jon only works between 1 and 3 days then these should all have a cost of £123.00 per hour. Anything over the 3 days should be zero costs. I cannot think of any other ways in which this could be done as well. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Regards Andy Last edited by OSandy; 02-24-2015 at 09:25 AM. You don't need two resources, just different Cost rate tables.
I'm assuming there are some sort of tasks the Jon works on Thursday and Friday which are somehow intrinsically different than the Monday through Wednesday tasks? You can assign different cost rate tables to assignments. However, the issue will be if a task starts on Monday and extends to Thursday. The cost rate table applies to the entire span of the task - not just part. I also do not know of any method to say that if the duration is longer than 3 days the entire task should cost nothing? I'm afraid it's going to be piece by piece. You can work with fixed costs or cost resources instead of costing at the work resource level - but this still is going to be very manual. Can you explain your scenario a but further? I've personally never been in a situation where someone "volunteers" for two days out of a week. |
