2010 VBA prevent calculation when file is opened.
Hello all,
Does anyone know how I can prevent auto calculation of a file when it is being expanded, just after file is open, to show all tasks? I have a large programme plan with sub programmes and sub projects. In 2003 this plan took just 40 seconds to show all - in 2010 up to 5 1/2 minutes. I am looking at other possible reasons for this but for the short term I would like to know if there is vba code to turn off auto calculation when 'show all' is used that I can implement now. (Users are fed up waiting for the plan to fully open.) Thanks, Phil |

Not to the best of my knowledge. It is not autocalculating on open, it's actually calling to the subproject file to update.
You might consider creating a non-linked version for a master project. There are quick to create and will be a snapshot of the subproject when inserted. |

Hello Julie,
Thanks for your response. To your knowledge, has anyone written a macro for the parent programme plan that would create a non-linked version? Thanks again. Phil. |

Not as far as I know. I'm sure someone has developed one but I don't personally know of any.
However, you can unlink fairly easily - double click on the inserted project line to show the Inserted Project Information dialog and on the advanced tab, uncheck the "link to project" checkbox. |
