Default searching info in notes field

i am entering extra information for many tasks but unfortunately limited by the type of information i can enter.

so i thought about entering things liuke a bullet list in the notes field. but then to test if it works, i tried to search a word that i entered in the notes section. i went to find.. .and then marked contains and hit search but it didnt work.

how can i search info in notes fields?

i am entering many informational items for each tasks and must enter most of them into notes fields, so searching of it later will be important

thanks in advance

How are you running the find?

In Project you can select which field to search. I was able to find text in a Notes field without problem.

The other option is to add the field to the table and search "All Visible."

i did exactly as you did but it did not work. my notes are not single words or sentences. they may be a text of sometimes even few paragraphs long, may be with bullet points .... when i have text like it, it is not finding it.. did you have text like that or had single words? when i have single word, only then it finds. not with longer text or even a sentence. may be my program has error

I can search through paragraphs of text entered into the notes field and using the find command find any task that contains a specific word within the field. Tested on Project 2010 SP-2 and latest cumulative update.

i checked it further. it can only search information to the extent that the text it fits into the horizontal area for text entry, just below the menu buttons on the main screen. i entered a long paragraph, and it only took the words upto the point that they fitted into the horizontal text area on main screen

Consider putting your keywords (ones you would search by) at the top of the field.

is yours doing the same thing, or you can search all text you put in to notes, even if longer than the horizontal text area?

No. If I enter very long amounts of data it seems to lose the ability to search the entire field.
