Default how do you reflect when PV falls below EV

How do you reflect the situation when PV falls below EV? (such as with a negative change order for example, which reduces the scope after you earned the original EV). how does that Excess EV, now extra, is reflected?

I would record the actual work on the task, set the remaining work to zero and put a note on the task that the scope was dropped.
