sorting submittal items
in my schedule i chose to place submittal items separately in each different trade group, instead of listing them alltogether in one group. so they are scattered. i want to show submittal items only to the owner. so what i will do is, i will add a column to my schedule, a text column, and for each submittal item, i will write submittal to that text column.; then i will filter my schedule per that text column for submittal items only. this is the correct way right? is there another way? this is preferred instead of notes column because notes column is only one and can include general info for many subjects for that activity so i am using text column. and is there any other way to sort these submittal items?

It doesn't sound like you are sorting - more like you are filtering. None the less, the method you are using (flagging the tasks in some way) would be what I would suggest. I would likely use a Flag field if it is a simple yes/no (submission or not).
