ms project 2010 calculating logic

lets say, i assigned the logic of
1FS+2days to task number 3 as a predecessor.

so it needs to start after 2 days of finish of task 1 corrrect?
but i just started using ms project 2010 and it doesnt do that. it starts somewhere else, even before finish of task 1 for some reason. and there is no other predecessor to it. why can this happen?
