Default Assign different resources with different colors to the same task

Hi,
Does anyone know how to assign two resources for the same task BUT with different colors.
I know how to assign two resources for the same task and I also know how to color resources by raising flags BUT for some reason I can't do those two actions togheter.

Will appreciate your assistance.

Thanks,
Shir.

In the bar styles dialog box, use bars that do not overlap. See the attached picture. For Pete's bar style I picked a narrow bar that only occupies the top of the row. For Mary's bar style, I picked a narrow bar that only occupies the bottom of the row.

Thank you Julie!
I just notice that I have an issue with the Flags of the two resources, for some reason once there are two resources for the same task both Flags are turning to be "NO".
Maybe you can share with me the all process from A to Z from assigning two resources till color them differently.

I truly much appreciate it!!

Thanks,
Shir,

For each Flag field you will need the following formula:

IIf(InStr([Resource Names],"r1")>0,-1,0)

replace the "r1" with each resource name - enclosed in quotees.

The formula tests the location of the resource name inn the Resource Names field. If that location is greater than zero, it displays Yes, if it is zero or less, the name does not exist within the field. Using the InStr formula allow multiple resources to be assigned.

Thanks Julie,
But now I can see both colors together (same as in your print screen) even though I have scheduled the two resources to start one after another and I expect to see this diffrentiation in the colors as well.
any idea how i can do this?

Thanks again!

To the best of my knowledge, that is not possible. The bars run from task start to task finish - not from assignment start to assignment finish.

If the second resource's work is dependent upon the first resource's work - I suggest splitting the task in two and assigning each resource to his/her part.

The resources don't depent each other, it just I have multiple small projects (that I refer to them as different tasks) that each one of them needs only 2 resources that scheduled one after another. I am trying to find a way to assign both resources for each project without spliting each project into two lines.

Is it possible?

Tnx,
Shir.

Yes, you can assign multiple resources to work on the same tasks at different times. You must edit the assignment start and end times in the Task Usage view or the Task Form showing the schedule. However, you cannot display different colored bars for each assignment start and end time - only for each task start and end time.

Default Formula for Color Coded Resources Based on % used.

I posted to this question because it was helpful to see the formula for that assigned 2 colors to a task with 2 resources. Thank you!

Now here is my question - does anyone have a formula that will allow multiple different resources to be assigned to a single task but display the color (via flag) for the resource with the greatest % allocated? I am using Project 2010 & when I assign more than one resource the flag stops working.

Unfortunately, no. The formula works on a task field [Resource Name]. Assignment units is not a task value, but an assignment value.
