Project 2013 - entering work hours at a monthly level
Hi all,
Any help with this 'hopefully small' problem will be hugely appreciated. It's not so much a problem, but me still being new to Project. As a summary of what I am working with: I have entered a list of tasks (all set to Manually Scheduled). I have entered a number of resources into the Resource List. I have also assigned relevant resources to the tasks. Using the Task Usage view, I would now like to begin entering expected work hours for the resources assigned to the tasks. We are planning at a monthly level, so I know how many hours each resource is going to be spending on each task over each month. As you'll be able to see in the attached pic (if it uploads), I have set the Timescale of my Task Usage screen to a monthly scale, thinking that this would allow me to enter total hours for each month. As an example, the row second from bottom shows that resource to be set for 15 hours of work in April. My problem is however, I would like the Start and Finish fields to reflect this, and span over the months in which the Task's resources will be doing work. It doesn't seem to pick up the month accurately though. I was hoping the Start and Finish times of that row to be 01/04/14 and 30/04/14 respectively, but they are a month out of line, and has show the work to be happening over May, not April. Is there any way I can change this? I hope this makes sense as a question? Any help at all would be brilliant. Please do let me know if I've missed any detail and you need some more info. I'll also continue looking through the forums to check if this has already been asked. Thanks very much, aj18 |

Your task ends on May 30 2014. Try entering a zero for the resource in May. When I recreated your scenario, entering the zero took care of the end date of the assignment. Testing using Project 2010 SP-2 and the April 2014 cumulative update.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for the reply here, as well as the one on the MS TechNet site! I have tried your suggestion of entering a zero, but unfortunately haven't been able to make this work. I'll include some more info on the TechNet site, if I might still be able to get some further help from you and John! Your screenshot is showing exactly what I would like to achieve! To anyone interested in this question, here's a link to a continuation of the thread - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...nal2010general Thanks again, Arjun |

I suggest first installing SP-1 for Project 2013 if you haven't. This thread is located at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...-monthly-level I will respond only to that thread from this point forward. |
