Task types with no Resources assigned

Hi,

I hope someone can help me figure this out. May sound dumb, but hey, no harm in asking.

Since task types, resources and effort driven option all tie in together, does it matter if using Fixed Units or Fixed Duration for tasks don't have resources assigned and are not effort driven?

FYI - Project tasks are currently as Fixed Units.

Task types and effort-driven have no effect unless there are resources assigned.
