Default activity id number showing together with activity name

someone showed me a ms project 2007 schedule that has activity numbers and task names are written together, in the task name column

so for example
if the activity ID is 5 and tack name is painting, it says

5 Painting

on task name column. how can i separate the activity IDs from Task name?

They said it is written automatically

Are you sure it is the Task ID - not the outline number? You can display the outline number to the left of the Task Name in the field by clicking Outline Number checkbox on the Gantt Chart Tools - Format ribbon.

Sorry, in Project 2007 you'll find the command in Tools > Options, View category.
