using a predecessor twice
it is not possible to use one task twice, for an activity's predecessor. lets say installation of drywall and taping tasks. I want to link taping as
drywall SS + 3 day which i do, and it is fine but taping also can not finish, before drywall can finish. impossible. so, how to show this? MS project doesnt let me to also put a drywall FF as a predecessor to taping i do not and can not end up with wrong schedule anyway, as my taping can not be complete before drywall is finsih so my dates are ok but as far as showing the relationships i am asking |

If you have drywall as a predecessor to taping with an SS constraint, you cannnot have an FF predecessor as well- you would be to link start date to ther start AND finish of the predecessor.
I would suggest that if you know the amount of time between when drywall should be complete and tryingtaping should be complete, you use an FF+ predecessor. If you assume that taping should finish 1 day after walling finishes, the the predecessor for taping would be (drywall) FF+1d. This would link the two and ensure that taping i salways seen as finishing after the walling. |

You can use milestones and a hammock task. Add a Milestone called begin taping with a SS+3day link to drywall installation. Add another milestone with a FF relationship to drywall.
Then follow the directions at the link below to create taping as a hammock. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/141733 |
