Title says it all... I know it is simple and just a key-stroke away, but, I can't find it.

View Ribbon. Sort command, Sort By to show the dialog. Click the "Permanently renumber tasks" checkbox.

Thank you for responding. For some reason that check box is not allowing me to check it. It's there but not active. Any idea why that is so?

Do you have a filter applied? Press F3 to remove all filters and try again.
