Default Calender associated with task lost during copy

MS Project 2010, Windows 2007. Project is set to save in 2007 format. Project is open and file is loaded. It shows (Compatibility Mode). Five different calendars are used in this project. All five calendars are shown in the Global.MPT.

I create a new project, and move all the Calendars from Global.mpt to the new project. I copy all tasks from the first project and past them into the new project. All the calendars for these tasks show "None." Expected behavior was the link to the calendars would be retained.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure I'm following.

If the calendars are in Global.mpt, you should not need to copy them to a brand new project - they should be in the list of calendars available in the Change Working Time command.

You are correct, task calendars do not appear to be part of the copied data. I'm not sure why you are copying and pasting data - can you use the "New from Existing File" to bring the tasks over to new file?

To speed up assigning the task calendars, drop the field into the view.

The calendars are in Global.mpt. I'm creating an integrated master schedule, which will contain >100 projects managed by different project managers. I want to accept new versions of their projects, say weekly, and put them into the integrated master schedule.

I would not create the integrated master through copy/paste. Use the SubProject command on the Project ribbon to create the consolidated master. This will preserve all calendars (task and otherwise) and is much less error prone.
