Default Predecessor name displayed in a text field

I am using MS Project 2010 standard.

I have a very large project and have the need to see the predecessor names in a text field.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Is there a formula or way to copy the predecessor name to a text field?

Thanks,

Leah

I don't know if it is what you are looking for, but if you go to the "view" tab and tick the details box"( right hand side of the ribbon) with "task form" selected in th edrop down menu next to it, you will get a split screen, with th eupper section showing the programme and the lower half showing details of the selected task. Clicking on any task will show you the predecessor name in the lower box.

To add on to Golouseus's excellent answer, after displaying the Task Form in the lower pane, click the in the Task Form and on the Task Form Format ribbon, choose Predecessors and Successors to view that information for the selected task.

Golouseus and JulieS,
Thank you both for your reply. I have been doing as you have suggested above. I have the need to display these names in a text field for each task in the schedule. I have a very large schedule and it would be most useful to have the capability to look at the task predecessor and successor names in a text field at the task line where they are point to and from.

I was hoping these was some function that would allow you to write these names to the text field but cannot figure it out.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Leah

I'm afraid there is nothing built-in. However, if you have some skills with VBA - the following link contains some starting code:

Thanks JulieS. I am not a developer/programmer. Was hoping there was a function that could be used to display this information in a text field.

Thanks.

You could create a custom task report and on the details page select predecessors and successors. But that report is printable only.
