Question Text Wrapping changes in the Print View of Project 2013

Hi All,

We are having an issue in Project 2013 with our Print View. In the Gantt Chart, our text is wrapped in each cell in the Task Name field and appears correct. When we print or even Print Preview, the text in each cell is unwrapped, and as result cuts out any of the detail that does not fit into the cell.

Has anyone seen this before & is there a fix? Have been through a number of ideas to resolve with no success. Issue is common across all of our Project files.

It sounds like you are not up to date on the cumulative updates for Project 2013. I expect that SP-1 will be released shortly - and that will roll up all of the CUs - but that was patched quite a while ago.

I recently updated to Project 2013. I have the same problem. I applied the hotfix, restarted my laptop, but the update did not correct the problem. The text does not wrap in Print-Preview. Do you have another suggestions?

This post is quite old. SP-1 has been released and you should have that installed at a minimum.

What field are you attempting to wrap? Did you wrap it on screen?

Thank you for your prompt rely. Yes, it is an old post, but that was the best that I could find. I'm trying to wrap the Task Name field. It wraps correctly on the screen for Gantt and Task Sheet, but not correctly in print preview. I need to send it in pdf format to others, so I'd like to correct, if possible. I applied the hotfix support.microsoft.com/kb/2817338, which did not correct the problem. Do you have a link or URL for SP-1? I upgraded to Project 2013 in February 2015. I have the 32-bit version. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated!

Assuming you are not running a subscription version, you'll find the latest updates including fixes for other issues at:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/projectsupport/p/msp13.aspx

You should likely update your machine through Windows Up dates and then apply the latest public update to make sure all is set.

What update did you apply? I am not seeing this issue in Project 2013 with the latest public update applied.

I had our Tech team apply the March 2015 Cumulative Update. The team clicked the link below to download the update. I then "restarted" my laptop, but the problem continues. Thoughts?

Are you printing to a PDF or using File > Export, Create PDF document. Does this occur with all files or just one?

Thank you for your series of questions. It made me look at my process. I believe I found an answer. The text wraps in the Gantt view, but does NOT wrap in Task Sheet view. I work almost exclusively in Task Sheet. Is there a "fix" for wrapping text in Task Sheet? Otherwise, I will have to print from Gantt view. Again, thank you for your prompt relies. Much appreciated.

I just opened a file and changed to the Task Sheet view. Initially the Task Name field did not wrap. Right click on the field, select Wrap Text. It now shows as wrapped in both the view and print pre-view.

Thank you, again, for your reply. I did that earlier in the process. It is not working. I created a new plan. Started in Gantt, then went to Print. The text wraps. I then changed to Task Sheet, and the text was wrapping in the Task Sheet view. I went to Print. Not wrapping. I selected the Wrap Text option for the "right-click" drop-down menu. Still not wrapping in Task Sheet.
