Formatting External Tasks in Team Planner
Hi all,
Forgive my ignorance if this is simple. How do I remove the alpha color value from external project tasks in team planner (Project 2013)? Basically I have multiple projects with one resource pool. I have a master project that consolidates all these external projects. The problem I have is that team planner colors the bars from external projects with alpha transparency so they are harder to see than when you view the tasks in their original projects. Does anyone know how I can stop this happening? There doesn't seem to be an option in the Style Section of Format on the team viewer. Thanks in advance. Steve |

I just did a quick experiment, creating a consolidated master through the pool and the External Tasks command on the Team Planner formatting ribbon had little effect. All tasks looked the same.
However, when I opened one of the sharer files, I could easily change the external (to that sharer file) task bars. Actually - strike that. I just experimented again and in the master file, non of the tasks are considered external. I was able to change the color of the bars by changing autoscheduled bar styles, but as no tasks are external, the changing the bar style for external tasks has no effect. |

Hi JulieS
Thanks for the reply. All my external tasks appear the same as well. Unfortunately they are all pale. For example, if i change the color of the task to red then it shows up as a very pale pink. I attached example.jpg which shows this issue. There are 3 tasks in the example, one is an external one that is default color which is almost unreadable. Then there are two more, one is a local task to the master project and the other is an external task. I've set both tasks to the same shade of red, they both seem to have alpha transparency, but the external task (pale pink) is a lot more pale. Do you have any ideas how to solve this? Thanks again. |

I agree. None of the colors have as much saturation as shown in the color choices. To the best of my knowledge the formatting choices do not include the color saturation. I suggest using the darkest primary colors - but even at that my red is the pale pink you show.
