Default Assigning finish date to work with %complete

Morning

I have a programme for a large engineering project, where many tasks have been started but have not been completed. this often occurs when we only have access to part of a section, and so achieve say) 50% with the remainder to be carried out at a later date.

Is it possible for a split task to have a resume date set, or is it tied to the current update date? the only other way I can see to get around this is to create a duplicate set of activities called "part 2" or somesuch, and mark these off separately.

The reason for attempting this is that there is a monthly KPI checklist, and we lose points where activities are marked as beig under way in the programme, but are not actually taking place.

Prog is in MSP2010, but will also be converted to MSP 2007 for others to view, so a 2010 soluton would be great, if it works in 2007 as well even better.

Thanks

You may select individual tasks and use the Update Project - reschedule uncompleted work command (Project ribbon 2010 or Tools Tracking Updating Project in 2007) to split the task and move the remaining work to a new date.

Thanks for the reply

That is generally how I update the programme, with the "start after" date being the update date- so if the update is done on 4 june 2015, all activities started but not completed will recommence on 4 june 2015. The problem is that if I set the recommence date to a months time, ALL activities would recommence then.

Had I thought about it more, I wold have realised that want I wanted was for Project to reschedule tasks based on what I knew would happen, as opposed to what the progrmme showed. I will go with the individual rescheduling as you suggest, and hope that the number of tasks drops

Thanks J, marking this one closed.

You're welcome. Sadly, Microsoft has not yet developed the "this is what I knew would happen" add-in for Project - so I'm afraid it's up to you.
