How to change key of Project print out

Hi everyone

I've changed the colour of some milestones and task bars. This is to show which are important or just to separate sections so all the tasks aren't blue i.e the colours are not based on status/resource or anything else.

The key at the bottom of the print out seems to automatically generate with the standard colours i.e all tasks as blue. Does anyone know if its possible to amend this key?

For example I have green task bars that relate to a specific set of tasks in the project we've wanted to flag by colouring differently I'd therefore want to assign a name to.

Thanks

The information that shows in the printed legend is based upon Bar Styles. You need to define a new bar style in order to see the data.
  1. Use one of the spare Flag Fields, set it to "yes".
  2. Right click in the Gantt Chart side of the Gantt Chart view.
  3. Select "Bar Styles" from the shortcut menu.
  4. Select the existing "Task" bar in the window.
  5. Cut (once) and paste twice to restore the original definition and also have a copy.
  6. Name the duplicate task something descriptive.
  7. In the Show For - select Flag 1.

Thanks very much.

Just tried that and the green bar is now appearing on the key.

However when I print the project to PDF some of the tasks bars are looking very odd. They are still the normal blue colour in the gantt chart but when I print to PDF they come out this maroon colour with a blue outline.

Any ideas what has caused this and how I make it stop?!

This has to be completed urgently so please help me asap!!!

Thanks!!

Make sure Project is up to SP-2 (assuming you are using Project 2010). Are you saving the PDF in Project or using a third party product?
