I'm creating a notional MS Project that will be based on a future (unknown) start date - depends on when a contract is awarded.
So for right now I'm populating everything based on the number of weeks each will take after the project is launched.
My time scale across the top is in weeks: week 1, week 2, week 3, etc.
Unfortunately MS Project still uses real dates/calendar for entering activities (unless there is another was to "turn off" the calendar and only use # of weeks out from the start of a fictional project?)
What's happening now is that when I enter a Milestone, MS Project forces me to put in an actual calendar date and then (unfortunately) it displays that date next to the milestone (diamond). I want to TURN OFF the display of the date because the date is fictional/meaningless until the project actuall starts. How do I turn off the display of the date next to the milestone?

Right click on the Gantt chart and select Bar Styles from the short cut menu. Select the Milestone task style, click the Text tab in the lower area, delete "Task Finish" from the "right" list.

Thanks - that did it with one small difference....
Since my milestones were already created, right-clicking on the Gantt chart itself did not make my pre-existing dates go away. I had to right-click on each of the milestones themselves on the Gantt chart and then do what you suggested.

The Bar Styles command should have taken care of all of the milestones. If you have both Manually scheduled milestones and and Automatically scheduled milestones you'll need to change both styles - but it should change both existing tasks and newly added tasks.

Did you by chance format individual tasks differently? If you have formatted individual tasks (format bar command), those individual changes are not over-ridden by changes in the Bar Styles command. However, you can select all the milestones and re-set through the Format Bar command and the re-set button.
