Default s-curve

Hello everyone,

I need to create a s-curve, I have found exact software to meet my needs but I was wondering is there a way to generate this in MS Project 2007 by using web parts? excel? etc.
If I could create this myself it would help tremendously.
thanks in advance

it is easy:
-first make your schedule
-assign costs to your activities either by putting in fixed costs or by resources
-go to task usage tab
-at the right section of the screen you will see some rows
-right click there and make sure you add cumulative cost row
-you will see that the cumulative costs distributed from left to right all the way from the start to the end for each activity (with respect to your project calendar span at the top)
-then all you do is to paste the top row which is the calendar to excel and then paste the cumulative row to the excel exactly under that first row so you have two rows under each other in excel (make sure dates and costs correspond as in ms project)
-then you can make a graph in excel showing an s curve with one axis being the time and the other cost
hope this helps

Have you looked at the Visual Reports in Project 2007? They create pivot tables and pivot charts.

Hi ketanco,
Thank you for responding to my post. We are currently doing it the way you described, however I wanted to see if there was a easier or better way without having to copy and past. Like a macro that could be written in excel or exporting the project schedule to csv and importing into excel? something that generates a s-curve for the stakeholders who will not know or want to go through the steps.

Yes, of course you can write a macro to export the data to Excel - but again - have you looked at the visual reports? It is also not clear from your post what data you wish to plot in an S-curve. If you are looking for the standard Earned Value data - it's already made for you in visual reports.
