Default Changing resources against tasks with actual values

Hi all

I have progress entered against some tasks assigned to a specific resource (person).

I have been told that the resource needs to change to a different person.

How can I do this without deleting the current resource (and in doing so the actual % work complete)? - I've had a look at deleting resource, but found that I had to literally enter all the task information (hours etc) again, and doing this didn't necessarily mean when I re-assigned with the new resource that the durations etc were being calculated correctly. There has to be a better way that I'm missing?

Can I not assign the second resource so that they pick up the remaining work and somehow set the original resource to have no remaining work? This way, all the dates and durations would do exactly what they should, and the resource profiles would show the original resource no longer working on that task.

Help!

Thanks all

Jo
