Default Over allocation due to a meeting

I am sure you have been asked this before but forgive me as I am new to the whole forum side of things so please bear with me.

I have a resource which is over allocated due to a meeting being held on a day that he is allocated elsewhere with an ongoing task. I would like to remove him from the task on that one day only, to attend the meeting.

How can I do this without an impact on the finish date of the task?

Apply the Resource Usage view and zero out the work for the conflicting task assignment on the meeting day.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, that worked with regards to the time allocation, although I really wanted to maintain the resource cost in the Project costs sheet but I guess I can't have both?

Many Thanks for your help.

I'm afraid you can't have it both ways. If you decrease work, costs decrease as well.

You may not need to completely zero the task work for the entire day. Drop the hours on that day down and then check that your "look for overallocations on a" setting is "Day by Day" not Hour by Hour.
