Managing equipment and person operating equipment
I have several pieces of equipment some of which work 24/7 with start/stop times, with little interruption for troubleshooting and other pieces of equipment requiring manual operation. I need to track the time spent actually working with the 24/7 equipment (like periodically analyzing data from the equipment). This data analysis time occurs during the runtime of the equipment but does not contribute to the runtime of the equipment, so there is a lot of gaps between actual work of the human resource during the operation of the equipment resource. How do I capture this time? Thank you for your assistance in advance. |

Hi,
I would create a fixed-duration task signifying the machine work using the 24 hours calendar as a task calendar assigned to the task. Assign a resource and enter your work estimate for the resource during the assignment. Project will spread the total resource work out evenly across the duration. If needed, you can go to the Task Usage view and edit the actual spread of work -- but many of us would not. We'd just allow the spread for planning purposes, knowing that in reality instead of .50 hour per day for 10 days, the resource may work 2 hours on Wednesday, 3 hours the following Monday and none in between. I hope this helps. Julie |
