WBS numbering 100>101,102,103
How can I set up WBS numbering as below in microsoft project?
100 One type of test > 101 test 1 > 102 test 2 > 103 test 3 > 104 test 4 200 Another type of test > 201 test 5 > 202 test 6 > 203 test 7 > > 203.1 (First bit of test 7) All I can work out how to do so far is: 100 > 100.1 > 100.2 > 100.3 etc... |

Hello bluphoto,
Sorry, I don't think you're going to be able to accomplish this using the standard WBS field. The requirements are that subtasks inherit the parent information -- even if you set it to "Characters - unordered". Would using a text field and renaming it WBS do what you need? You'd then need to manually enter the codes for each task -- but you could get exactly what you want. Julie |

Yes, the text fiels would do what I need, but then someone is bound to enter another test between tests 3 & 4 meaning I have to renumber tests 4 to whatever (which is likely dozens of tests).
I think it'd be simpler to renumber my folder structure to match my priject file, rather than the project file to the folder structure. |

Hi bluphoto,
Sorry, I don't quite understand your comment about "folder structure". Can you explain more why you need the numbering scheme and perhaps we can come up with an alternative. |
