Default splitted bars of activities

Hello,
Look at the bars of activities 58 through 72 in the file I am attaching to this post. The bars are split. I dont remember how the became splitted. How can I join them again? I dont want to show a gap, but still keep the start date and overall duration the same so instead of the gap i want the activity bar continuous.

If you look at the Task Usage view, I imagine you will see zero actual work during the splits. This is expected. My guess is they became split when you updated the project plan and moved any remaining work in the future.

You cannot keep the bar continuous as the activity was not worked on during that time.

If you are using resources in MSP you need to keep a continual check on the task usage or resource usage view because gaps can occur in the resource profiles. The problem varies depending on your default task type.

Ok how can I tell msproject that these activities was worked on during that time? I want those bars continuous.
When I updated the project I didnt know it was going to split the tasks. I thought it was going to extend the length of the task bar. Do I need to move status date back and then do something like that or what can I do?

Did the resources log work during the split? If so, record the Actual work in the Task Usage or Resource Usage view during the gap. Add it to the right hand side of the view.

the answer to your question is no, i mean i think not because i never assigned any resources to anything on this project yet. all i had done was to assign fixed costs to activities thats all.

but i managed to solve my problem by simply dragging the right end of the left bar towards the right bar and then simply joined them and solved my problem

but there is still something i dont understand. when i manually pulled the end of the bar and made them join, i looked at the changed columns for that activity and i saw that the duration, actual duration, % complete columns have been changed. so to try i undid the dragging of the bar, and then changed those three columns to see if it will also close the split but this time they did not close it but just made one of the bars longer and kept the gap same. so although i entered values similar to when i closed the gap manually, this did not work. i dont understand why....

If you don't have resources assigned, then likely the split is being caused by the reschedule uncompleted tasks command. That command splits the task and moves any remaining work.

By clicking and dragging the split back, you are undoing the reschedule and putting incomplete work in the past.
