Default project related info - One Note?

Hi,
I am expecting to start using project 2010 in march as I change jobs at that time. Currently I am a developer.
So I will look at lotsa p2010 training materials in the next few weeks.
One thing that bothers me is that I am usually a bit disorganized myself.
So I need to store info in one place I guess. Usually I write things down, and then forget where. I do have One Note on my laptop - should I try and use that? Any hints on how to use it for a couple of projects coming up with 10 -15 people on each?

TIA

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. I sincerely do recommend some good 2-3 day hands-on training in using Project 2010. It is not a terribly intuitive product and getting started off on the right footing will save you much aggravation and re-work later.

To you question about One Note. Good product -- but not a project management scheduling tool - such as MS Project. One Note is great for, as the name implies, taking unstructured notes -- rather the opposite of a structured project plan and schedule. I think One Note is great for helping you collect your notes but I wouldn't attempt to use it to plan a project schedule.

Your are right not a clear question that I asked. I will be doing some hands on training with Project 2010. My concern is that although I will be able to use Proj 2010 OK, I will loose the confidence of the team members cos I dont have all the info relating to a project to hand.
Any recommendations on what else I could use to support Proj 2010?
A written day day book, One Note etc. What might work well with Proj 2010. What do really smart kiddies use?
Cos I want to look and be really switched on!
One Note - seems like I should get some knowledge of it, and use from day 1.
Any thing else spring to mind?
TIA

For project documentation, either One Note or Word would work fine in my opinion. I would got with Word for more formal documents like statement of work, change requests and sign off. If you need things like skills matrix, Excel works just fine or Word with tables.

I wouldn't worry so much about what product -- remember one of the key things as a project manager is communication. You are the hub of the communication in the team -- your communicate information both to the team as well as act as the communication conduit to the sponsor and sponsoring organization.
