Default entering values for a cost type resource

Hello,
I tried to enter cost resources and I am able to enter dollar amounts for rated and material costs, however there us a 3rd type, called cost resource i can not enter any values. later i discovered that you assign a cost to it by going into separate activities but everytime you need to assign value to it again. is there a way to assign a cost to a cost type resource and it can be used with the same cost for all activities? or is it not necessary? because that is covered by the material type cost?

Hi Ketanco,

The purpose of a cost resource is to allow you to keep track of costs such as airline travel, hotels, etc. If there is a set cost per item, a material resource may be more useful.

so then a material cost may not necessarily be a construction material, but can be cost of anything, as long as its cost is fixed throught all its use right? so this means the cost resources will always have to be edited per each item correct?

Material resources are assigned to tasks and you may enter a number of units of the material. Yes, it can be construction material or it can be reams of paper.

Both cost resources and material resources are edited at the assignment level. Split your screen from the Gantt chart to show the Task Form at the bottom and edit from there.
