Default Groups to be sorted by start date in MS Project

Hi,

I have rearranged my tasks so that they are grouped according to some parameter - Let's say I "custom grouped" them location-wise.

And these groups are listed in alphabetic order either ascending or descending...
but i need them (groups) to be sorted start date-wise...

Can you advise me how to do it...

Thanks much

You'll need to do a 2 level group. First group by date and then by location or group by location, then by date.

If you group first by date, you can select under "Define Group Intervals" to have it group by value (individual date) or by week or month.

I hope this helps.

Julie

Dear Julie thank you for your kind responses which help me much....
but I couldn't understand well what should I do to sort my groups start date-wise.

Let me reformulate my question uploading sample file:

Suppose my tasks are grouped location-wise: locations A, B, C, in the ascending order (like in the attached file).
But if you see you will notice that start order is following: first starts group C than group A and finaly group B, so I’d like to have my groups' order to be: C,A,B,…
So is it possible to have such arrangement?

Thaaanks

Hi Antares,
Sorry, I don't think that will be possible. Project wants to sort your group alphabetically, which is why it is using A, B, C. It keeps the location tasks together because they have the same value. It doesn't know anything about the dates as you've not included those in the group definition.

If you group first by location, then by date, you can produce a more logical flow -- but if two tasks have the same start date, it will group then by location.
